Sporades Islands
The Archipelago of the Sporades, a group of islands that are, etymologically speaking, "sporadic" or "scattered" outside of the central archipelago of the Cyclades, is located along the east coast of Greece.
Four of them are permanently inhabited: the islands Alonnisos, Skiathos, Skopelos and Skyros, which are usually referred to the Thessalian or Northern Sporades, while the Thracian, the Western (islands of the Saronic Gulf), the Eastern (the islands near to the coast of Asia Minor) and the Southern Sporades (Dodecanese) refer to other island groups situated outside the "circle" around the holy island of Delos, the Cyclades.
The archipelago is an ideal alternative destination in Greece, that still bare some uncrowded corners and hidden beauties in the middle of a dense vegetation, rocky landscapes, clear blue seas and magnificent sandy beaches.
As the yacht approaches, Skopelos emerges like a sapphire jewel, its lush greenery and white-washed houses cascading down hillsides toward the sea. Skopelos Town, with its narrow alleyways and vibrant bougainvillaea, captivates the senses, offering a warm introduction to the island's authenticity.
Skiathos, the cosmopolitan sibling, welcomes charter guests with golden beaches and lively waterfront tavernas. The island's vibrant spirit, embodied in Skiathos Town, beckons exploration with its bustling markets, charming cafes, and a lively nightlife that unfolds along the water's edge.
Alonissos, a tranquil retreat, enchants with its natural beauty and marine life. The azure marine park surrounding Alonissos makes it an idyllic destination for those seeking serene anchorages, where the harmony of sea and sky becomes a soothing backdrop.
Skyros, the southernmost gem, exudes a more rugged charm. Its landscapes are dotted with traditional villages, ancient ruins, and the iconic monastery of Agios Georgios poised on a hilltop, offering panoramic views of the Aegean.
Each Sporades Island, from the vibrant Skiathos to the serene Alonissos, unfolds as a chapter in a maritime narrative where the yacht becomes a vessel for exploration and relaxation. The archipelago's natural beauty, authentic villages, and welcoming harbors beckon charter guests into a world where the Aegean breeze whispers tales of tradition and tranquility.
